This is the first of some New Items to be offered for sale. These are personal collection items that I feel must have new homes. The Category 5 Hurricane, in October 2018, destroyed much of the area less than five miles east of my home. In the aftermath, as I saw the destruction and total losses to homes and treasured belongings of so many people, I decided that the Florida coastline is nowhere to preserve these lovely antique items.

NIPPON CHOCOLATE SET

This elegantly adorned set has been in my family for several generations now. It needs a new home where it will hopefully be passed down a few more times.

The set is beautifully hand painted with roses and a hatchwork of blue bamboo, plus an elegant adornment of gold on all pieces. To see more photos and description of this item, please CLICK Please click Porcelain/China Tableware on the Menu List on the left side of this page.

Each piece bears the Maple Leaf backstop with the word NIPPON and the words Hand Painted written in script. This is the correct small 1/4-inch high marking. It is pictured here, however I have zoomed in to show the markings more clearly. The pot is stamped in blue and the cups in green. My research indicates that this stamp dates back to 1891.

The set is in excellent condition and consists of the Chocolate Pot with Lid and six (6) delicate Cups with Saucers. The graceful pot measures 10 inches tall, including the lid, and 5-1/4 inches wide at the base. The little cups are 3 inches high and 2-3/4 inches across the rim. The saucers ate4-3/4 inches across.

I have examined each piece and cannot find any indication of chips, scratches or other damage. Actually I do not remember it ever being other than displayed in closed china cabinets at my grandmother's, my mother's, and my own homes.
