SPECTALULAR MURANO, ITALY 3-1/2"GLASS PAPERWEIGHT - Cased Cobalt with White-

Paperweights were never a part of the many collections I have indulged in over the years. It was not until this magnificent and intriguing glass ball caught my eye at an antique auction that I began to properly appreciate the beauty and individuality of these pieces. This one spoke to me from across the auction hall and insisted on going home with me. As I continued to study it, began to understand the fascination. Each angle, or capture of light changes the appearance, a calming diversion from the stress of an office.

My only knowledge of this piece so far is that it does have an original gold on clear sticker on the bottom that reads, "Made in Murano, Italy". There is no artist's signature, which does surprise me, considering the intricacy, style and craftsmanship of the paperweight. It measures 3-1/2" in diameter and 3-1/4" high. It weighs a substantial 2 pounds. The crystal is beautifully clear, the cobalt blue threads have a darker edge to them, and the white threads have a dark blue edge as well. I have no idea how these are made; however, I intend to do some serious research, since my collection is beginning to expand.

This piece is in wonderful condition. I do not see any signs of wear or damage at all. It appears to have lived in a display case. If anyone recognizes the artist's or factory's work, please let us know.
