Wardway by Wagner #1442 Square Breakfast Skillet
This great cast iron skillet was manufactured by the Wagner Company for the Montgomery Ward Department Stores. The skillet is imprinted with "Wardway" on the bottom, as well as with the model number "1442".
I do not know the age of this item; however, I have read that the Wardway cast iron cookware was only made until 1960. I suspicion that it is one of the older pieces, as I remember it being used by my grandmother. Although we see a number of old cast iron pieces on the market today, I have encountered very few of this item.
This 9 inch square skillet is divided into three sections, and is known as a Bacon and Egg Breakfast Skillet. It is in good condition, clean, with no cracks or damage that I can find. I have not attempted to do any special cleaning or conditioning, since my reading has produced various and differing opinions on how that should be done. I will leave that up to the purchaser. Thus, the pictures do show some rust-like discoloration; however it is only a light surface type.
