"Reflection" by 1847 Rogers Bros - crystal and silver Marmalade with spoon

The picture here does not do this beautiful item justice !! The camera insists on capturing the concentric circles within the glass jar, which are virtually not visible with the naked eye. We are better antique collectors than we are photographers.

This is a lovely Marmalade or jam jar, which I have likewise seen referred to as a mayonnaise jar. Actually, I have found it makes a great mayonnaise jar, if I substitute a flat butter knife for the spoon. This one has also served nicely as a container for dinner mints or nuts on buffet tables. As you can tell, I strongly believe in actually using my silver and other lovely table items. The set consists of the crystal jar, the silver plate cover and the matching silver plate spoon.

Made by 1847 Rogers Bros., after they became a part of International Silver Co., this piece has a silver plated cover, notched for the matching spoon. The pattern is the "Reflection" pattern, which was manufactured from 1959 thru 1991, and is now discontinued. The inside of the lid bears the Pattern Name, the Rogers Mark, the International Silver logo, and the number 9239, which I believe is the pattern designation. The spoon is also marked. The silver is in very nice gently used condition.

The crystal jar was manufactured by Federal Glass Company, and has their trademark of the letter "F" inside a shield embossed into the bottom. There are no mold marks, so I am assuming that this was in fact a blown piece, and that the concentric circles within the glass are a result of that process. It is clear and bright, with no cracks, scratches, chips or wear signs.

I try to describe the items on this site as accurately as possible; however since most of the items are either antique or at best vintage, due to their age, they are sold in "as is" condition.
