Superior Silverplate Co. - Antique 10" Tall Weighted Candlesticks - plus Inserts - Pair

This pair of tall candle sticks stand a full 10" high and add grace to a buffet or mantle. They are somewhat unique in that they come with a pair of removable inserts, which I assume are designed to catch wax, however they also serve to allow two different diameter candles to be used. My research is just beginning on these, however it do know that they were made by Superior Silver Plate Co., which was part of the Middletown Plate Co during the late 1800's, and later became part of International Silver in 1898 and moved to Meriden, Connecticut. I have not been able to identify this very unique pattern, which is less ornate than the floral type we normally see. The border, to me appears to have a Roman style, and is applied to both the base and the upper shoulders of the candlesticks. Measuring 10" high, and 4-3/8" across the base, each candle holder is weighted to a substantial 1lb 3oz, assuring stability.

The markings on the underside simply read, "Superior S.P.Co. Made in U.S. America 141" . I am guessing that the 141 represents the pattern number, and I am still searching for its name. These candleholders are in good used condition. They are straight, solid, and have no dents or damage that I see. They have some tarnish on them. The little inserts have a few scratches where someone has scraped out wax. I am just now learning my silver terminology, and am finding silver photography to be quite a challenge. I will add more information soon.
