Duncan Glass Light Cut Crystal Basket - 10-1/2" tall early Victorian Glass piece.

This graceful basket was made by the Duncan Glass company, probably in the late 1800's or early 1900's. The shape is an unbanded version of the "tavern" shape, which we believe identifies it as one of the earlier pieces. Although many people refer to the decoration as etching, it is actually called Light cutting. This cutting takes the form of a delicate series of flowers, stems and leaves.

This piece measures 10-1/2" in high, including the handles. It is 5-1/2" from base to rim and 5-1/2" from rim to rim. It has 12 panels with a panel line under each side of the handles, and the word "PAT'D" embossed inside the base (which confirm the Duncan identity). It has 20 rays on the underside of the base. The piece is in wonderful condition with no damage I can find
