LIONEL 650 Series - #657 Caboose - Pre-War 0 Gauge

- ( sorry SOLD ) This car is the Lionel #657 Caboose. It has a red body, a brown cupola and roof, off white windows, red painted platform railings and a black frame. It has white rubber stamped lettering. It has no plates and black journals, It has one small automatic coupler on one end. The lettering reads "Lionel Lines 657". TheLionel #657 measures 6-1/2" long by 2-1/4" wide by 3-1/2" high. It was manufactured between 1934 and 1942.

Looking at the underside, there is not an oiling instruction sticker present. As the pictures show, this is in relatively nice used condition, with some paint scratches and signs of wear.

Considering the estimated 70+ years age of this car, I am amazed at the condition. These were designed for children to play with, yet it has survived without the amount of rust and dents and damage one would expect. If it has been repaired or restored in any way, it has been with the utmost care.

Please note: We have not tested any of the model trains on the website, as I unfortunately lack the knowledge to test them without damaging them, and I do not have the necessary track or transformers. I can say that the trains currently on this site came from a single collection in my family, and the owner would have likely maintained them. However, I must state that they are sold "as is". I try very hard to accurately describe the items on this site. However, if you have any questions, please email us by using the Contact tab on our Home page. I will be happy to provide additional pictures and answer any questions you may have.
