This is one of those items that we occasionally add to our Yesterday Revisited site, because, although it is neither antique nor even vintage, it deserves to be here, due to its nature, or as in this case, its antique manner of creation.

Some years back I first encountered this ancient form of glass art, known as Reverse Hand-Painting, in the form of a decorative egg. (See our Art Glass Category for examples of these eggs.) At the time, I became fascinated by the way the painting is all done freehand on the inside of a mouth blown glass piece, using tiny brushes and obviously a very steady hand. In order to get the correct effect, the design is literally painted in reverse order; the detailing first, followed by the back shadowing and main colors for the individual parts, and finally the application of the background colors. The result is fantastic.

The Ne 'Qua Art company began producing beautiful ornaments utilizing this technique, and they are lovely examples of this ancient art form. How wonderful that the old processes get revived and can continue for future generations. Of course Christmas ornaments are an ideal way to insure that these pieces will be enjoyed year after year and likely passed on from family to family.

This elongated ball-shaped Ornament is called Holiday Music and features a single cardinal with holly and musical notes and clef, as he sings his Christmas carols. The colors are rich reds and greens, accented with gold trim. The detailing makes it hard to remember that this was all done from the inside of the glass ball by hand. This piece measures slightly over three inches excluding the cord. We believe this particular ornament was issued in 2011.

All Ne 'Qua Art pieces bear their etched logo, and it is clearly found on the reverse side of this bell. The metal cap is likewise embossed with the Ne 'Qua Art logo. The ornament hangs from a silken tasseled cord. It comes nestled in its original satin-lined velvet box, along with its Certificate of Authenticity. This item is new, purchased by me, and never used.

Note: The brass display stand seen in some pictures is NOT included and was only used to suspend the ornament for photographing.

I try to describe the items on this site as accurately as possible; however since most of the items are either antique or at best vintage, due to their age, they are sold in "as is" condition.
