Tour de France '86 The American Invasion - by Don Alexander & Jim Ochowicz - softcover - (sorry SOLD )

In 1986, I was co-owner of a small bicycle shop. I remember following every bit of radio, television and newspaper coverage of that historic race. Although the Tour de France had been going on in Europe since the early 1900's, American cyclists had never managed to capture a win. In 1986 it happened for Greg LeMond.

Don and Christie Alexander traveled with the 7-Eleven team for the entire Tour de France. Their behind-the-scenes viewpoint and the expertise of the team manager, Jim Ochowicz, combine for a unique and exciting book. The book has 192 pages filled with both color and black and white photos. This is a terrific piece of cycling history.

The book is in exceptionally nice condition. Other than a couple of very enjoyable reads, it has sat on my personal bookshelf for the past 25 years. There is no damage to the interior or markings. The only wear is what you see in the photo, that being a slight amount of corner and edge wear on the cover. I will be happy to provide more photos if you like. This book has become somewhat rare. We have seen them listed for over $100. We try to keep our items affordable. The goal of this site is to send our items out to new homes where they will be remembered, enjoyed and passed on, while supporting the website's existance.

I try to describe the items on this site as accurately as possible; however since most of the items are either antique or at best vintage, due to their age, they are sold in "as is" condition.
