McCoy Pottery Cookie Jar -- Dutch Treat Barn -- Vintage 1970-73

The name McCoy speaks for itself. Dating back as far as 1868, the McCoy family has been producing pottery and their company is noted for its quality items. Most amazing to me is the vast variety of pieces, styles, finishes and designs that all are attributed to McCoy. We personally have owned McCoy items such as the elegantly glazed Brush McCoy Onyx vases, as well as this whimsical cookie jar.

This cookie jar is called the Dutch Treat Barn. It is featured in "The Collectors Encyclopedia of McCoy Pottery" by Sharon and Bob Huxford. The brown barn has nice detailing, with a little Dutch girl in the doorway, milk cans painted on the front, and Dutch designs on the windows. The referenced book indicates that this cookie jar was produced between 1970 and 1973. It is a rather unique example of McCoy design to add to either a cookie jar or a McCoy collection.

The condition of this jar is good, considering it has been around for 40 years, and used. As the photos show, the base of the jar is in very nice condition; however the lid does have several small chips. Most of these chips can be seen in the photo of the underside of the lid. These fortunately do not show when the jar is displayed. One chip does show slightly along the lower edge of the roof, and one of the back corners has a scuffed tip. The jar still displays nicely, and perhaps somewhere out there is a lid that is missing the jar portion. Although not perfect, this piece is still somewhat rare, and a nice representative piece. We have priced it to reflect its flaws. Please ask for additional details or photos.

I try to describe the items on this site as accurately as possible; however since most of the items are either antique or at best vintage, due to their age, they are sold in "as is" condition.
