Delight Cast Iron Toy Cookstove or Salesman Sample - Nickel trim - with bucket

We do not know a lot about this little Cast Iron Cookstove except that it is made of a heavy Cast Iron (weighs about 6-1/2 pounds) and has Nickel Trim, which is still present in most areas. The logo insignia on the door is DELIGHT, and it truly lives up to its name. It is a delight to see. Three of the four little "burner plates" are present, although one is missing. There should also be a rectangular flat cover for the recessed area on the right, where I believe water used to be placed, but we do not have that piece either. It came with a little bucket for maybe coals or water or wood? Don't know - -but it is cute and included.

What is fascinating to me about this little stove, is that all of the parts actually operate! There is a lever that opens and closes a damper. There is a lever that tilts the grate, apparently to dump the coals out. There are two doors on the front, both of which open. In fact, when we found this stove, we discovered it actually had ashes inside. Someone had used it!! I think it actually works!! ( Were these early versions of the Easy Bake Oven? ) How fun to have been a little girl and actually prepare tea on this!

The stove top measures 8-3/4" wide by 6" deep and stands 6-1/2" high on four sturdy legs. The condition of the stove is very good, considering its age. There are no cracks or damage to the stove anywhere that I can find, other than it has an overall coating of light rust, which can be cleaned off. We do not attempt to clean the cast iron items, as we prefer to leave that to the expertise of the purchaser. There is a good bit of decorative scroll trim, which we understand is nickel plating. I really think this little stove would clean up very nicely. As mentioned above, it is missing one of the burner plates (they measure 2-1/4" in diameter), and the rectangular plate (1-1/2" x 3-1/2"). There may have been a shelf on the left end at one time, as it has two square openings, where a shelf might have hooked on; however, we do not have that. I have been told that it is possible to find replacement parts for some of these, although I have yet to locate any.

I try to describe the items on this site as accurately as possible; however since most of the items are either antique or at best vintage, due to their age, they are sold in "as is" condition.
